Error 1: Fix this application has requested the Runtime
When you try to open the VLC media player or if you try to play a media file such as audio or video file specifically, you would encounter an error saying “This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it an unusual way. Please contact the application’s support team for more information.”
- If you click the OK button, you will get a warning saying VLC.exe is not working. VLC.exe will be closed. This is a strange error without a much revealing error message. There are quite a few fixes available for this error online.
The only fix seems to work for some users was updating the VLC to the latest version of the application. Some users have reported that the problem was resolved after updating to the latest version of the VLC. So, try to update your VLC media player to the latest version and see if the error goes away. Try to download the VLC 1.0.5 version and try to install. This version should resolve this error. You can also download any previous version of the VLC player and try to install it.
Error 2: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error
The VLC Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime library runtime error occurs when you try to play multiple media files simultaneously. To fix this error do the following.
- First download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package from here.
- Open VLC media player and reset the VLC media player Preference by clicking reset preference.
- Open VLC media player again, go to Tools > Preferences > Playlist > Show Settings and select All.
Under playlist, select checks the box “En-queue items into a playlist in one instance mode” and save the settings. Also, check other options such as “Allow only one running instance” and “Use only one instance when started from the manager”.
